Founded in 1955, the Lightning Protection Institute (LPI) is the national not-for-profit thought leader, focused exclusively on advocating lightning protection education, awareness and safety.

Our members are manufacturers, contractors, scientists, architects, engineers and safety directors. As a collective, we work to improve the science and efficacy of lightning protection systems and solutions for commercial, industrial, military and residential applications.

Why Lightning Protection

If the case for lightning protection hasn’t already been made, consider your work. Whether you’re the owner, you designed or engineered the structure, or you work within the building as an occupant or employee, catastrophic lightning events threaten your work and possibly your livelihood. Lightning protection protects your work. In the most extreme cases, it protects you and those under your care.
